About the two Airports in Istanbul
Istanbul has two main airports: Istanbul Airport [IST] and Sabiha Gökçen International Airport [SAW].
Istanbul Airport, also known as the New Istanbul Airport, is the city's primary international airport and is located on the European side of the city. It is located about 40 kilometers northwest of the city center and serves as the main hub for Turkish Airlines, as well as a number of other airlines.
Sabiha Gökçen International Airport is located on the Asian side of Istanbul, about 40 kilometers southeast of the city center. It is the second-busiest airport in Istanbul and serves mainly low-cost carriers and domestic flights.
Both airports are well-connected to the city center by various transportation options, including shuttles, buses, taxis, and private or shared transfer services.
